Lull in blogging

Before this year started I really wanted to blog at least once a week. Well it is now three weeks in and nothing yet. Here's to a new start I hope.

I will admit we did nothing special on News Year Eve. We are totally boring that way. But knowing we were doing something the next day was a good excuse to relax the night before. We invited our two good friends over with their family. I bought a turkey on sale and it was prefect to feed a house full. The three oldest kids played way more than they ate but what do you expect from 3- 3 year olds. They use to play all the time together so it was a lot of fun for them, and the adults. Happy New Year!

Girls are growing so fast. I have really tried so far this year to do a couple of things one is to turn off TV and computer and play with the girls more. Also with the TV and computer off to craft more. I do love crafting too. Something things that have happened are we moved Whitley into her own room. It is the coldest room in the house and she did not do well. So a week later we did a switch-a-roo with rooms. Maleah and Whitley are now sharing a room and Whitley's old room is now a toy room. I so love not having to trip over toys to put Maleah to bed. I love having a toy room right now. Sorry to anyone that wants to visit and sleep over because you now get the air mattress and we gave away the old uncomfortable bed. It is good to have the extra room.

Whitley has also decided that baths are horrible anymore. She can sit up in the tub and now seems to enjoy playing.

Maleah could spend an hour plus in the bath tub. We try to limit it to a half hour because I get bored watching her or being close to the bathroom.
We had a nephew's birthday this month. Whitley helping wrap his present. We went down for the weekend. We had an adventure getting down there. Before we left we changed a burned out headlight. Car turned on fine. We loaded everything and everyone up to live and the car didn't start. We had to push the car out of the garage to jump start it. We then had to go get it check out with the girls both sleeping in the back. We didn't even know if we were going to make it. The battery charged up and it has been fine ever since. We made it down but Whitley was done with being in her car seat with a half hour left. If we didn't have issues we might have made it. It was worth going down to visit. Maleah sure loves playing with her cousins. We even got a good wake-up call because he got drums for his birthday. The birthday party was at a Huge fun park and Maleah and Joe and the kids had a blast. Whitley however just was fussy, had a blow-out, and slept. Happy Birthday to Izaiah!!

Whitley started solid foods. She doesn't dig it but we try everyday anyways.

Whitley being so happy. I was getting a fun picture also of the cute flower I made for them. The baby legs I made out of $1 socks and little mittens for her hands at night.See the little mittens!
Maleah loves playing with real makeup. I got her some cheap stuff at the dollar store so she doesn't waste all of mine. She loves to even play with some pretend makeup. Loves playing hair and dress up. We need a few makeup lessons before she wears it for real.

Now to my crafting kick.

The hearts are cut up pieces of fabric and glued onto cardboard, I am cheap I know. Then the topiary, bottom is the same as the hears, middle is silver ribbon stuff and top is left over flowers from the next project.
Simple vases with painted beans and one flower. I love having extra color out after I put away all my Christmas things.

Distressed Canvases the idea and technique is from Delia's awesome blog. Go check it out. She has so many amazing crafts and ideas. She even took the top right picture (thanks I love all the pictures she took for us this summer).

It was a lot of fun and pretty inexpensive craft that looks like you spent a bunch. It was a little messy but it a great way to display photos in a new way at our house. I now have more projects in the works for the girls room redo and the main bathroom.

I have been inspired by all the fun Valentine's Subway Art out in blog land right now. I decided to make up my own and use the distressed canvase technique to make it more unique. I just used powerpoint to make it up and had a copy place print it the right size for me. I love it and it will soon hang up in my bedroom. I hope to paint the whole room first. I might just display it in the living room until Valentine's Day.

That is it for now. I hope to keep up on blogging so we will see how I do.

They turned out so pretty Kaylyn.

I love your other crafts. The layered painted beans...I might have to snatch that idea! Would you want me to link to your blog post or just mention your name?

The topiary and the fabric hearts are adorable too. I love how you made something so inexpensive look so not inexpensive.

I hear ya on the being on the computer less and crafting more. I have to work on that one.

How do you like having the girls in the same room? Do they do ok? We tried and failed last time but we might try again. Just curious what you do to help everyone go to sleep and not keep each other up and things.
